Under Cabinet Microwave

The Emerson MW8999SB 0.9 cu. ft. 900 watt Microwave Oven is certainly inexpensive. For a microwave this size it does not skimp out on functionality or options.

We were surprised at all the options you get with this little microwave. Given its dimensions (It's only 20 in. x 11.3 in. x 16.1 in.) it can be a under cabinet microwave for your small kitchen. The interior can still accommodate a good size dinner plate or small 10-inch- round pizza.

We were very pleased with the performance of the Emerson MW8999SB. It did a very nice job heating water for hot chocolate, cooking a couple of spuds, steaming fresh vegetables, and reheating pizza. Even the automatic defrost proved surprisingly easy, allowing you to enter the weight of the chicken to be defrosted.

So all in all, there are ten power levels, six Express Cook settings, timed and automatic defrost options, eight one-touch function buttons, a rotating glass turntable to circulate that pizza for more even cooking, and a child safety lock. The unit is handsomely colored in black and has stainless steel trim around the door and control panel. The touchpad control panel is easy to wipe clean!

Kenmore 66109:

The Kenmore 66109 is designed for to be an under cabinet microwave or for kitchens with limited counter space. This compact unit is about the size of a large toaster oven, measuring roughly 18 x 11 x 11. Although it may be small, it posses 800 watts of power it also has many of the features found on larger ovens, including nine quick-touch buttons, electronic touchpad controls, and auto and timed defrost options.

The controls on this model are every bit as convenient as higher-priced models. There are nine quick-touch buttons for common tasks (popcorn, spuds, tea, pizza, TV dinner, fresh vegetable), which are preprogrammed with preferred power levels and approximate cook times. Although there is no sensor to help adjust the cooking time for the most part it is pretty accurate.

For general heating and timed microwave function, this oven works very well. So all in all, it is a good microwave for the price.
